New York Liberty guard and 2x WNBA All-Star Sabrina Ionescu has become one of the most notable names in sports since being selected as the First Overall Pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft.

Before joining the Liberty, Sabrina played basketball for the University of Oregon Ducks where she was unanimously voted the 2020 AP Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. She is also the only player, male or female, in NCAA history with 2,000 career points (2,562), 1,000 career rebounds (1,040) and 1,000 career assists (1,091).

During the 2022 WNBA season, Sabrina was voted to the AP All-WNBA First Team, named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month twice, and won the 2022 WNBA Skills Challenge. Additionally, she tallied the league’s first-ever triple-double in less than three quarters and the first-ever 30-plus point triple-double. In Sabrina’s fourth and most recent WNBA season she earned her second All-Star selection, and set the internet on fire with her record-setting Three-Point Competition scoring 37 out of a possible 40 points, propelling her further into the national spotlight.

In March of 2023, Sabrina was announced as the newest Nike Signature Athlete. She is the first woman at Nike Basketball to globally lead a unisex shoe and apparel collection. With the launch of the SI20 Foundation, Sabrina plans to continue to inspire kids to stay active through sport while building relationships with their teammates to foster deeper community connections.

Breaking records

Sabrina stole the show during the 2023 Starry 3-Point Contest with an unprecedented performance. She only missed two shots to score 37 of 40 possible points, breaking both the NBA and WNBA record. The basketball world took note of Sabrina’s shooting prowess, resulting in a sharp spike in social media mentions after her performance, which carried throughout the entirety of WNBA All-Star week.
